jonathan’s red sauce

Who doesn’t love spaghetti? Who doesn’t love easy meals?

Look no further! My red sauce recipe has you covered. You’ll be eating delicious pasta in no time, without even trying. Never reach for a jar of pre-made sauce again!

you will need

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 1/2 of a medium sized red onion sliced thin

  • 3 large garlic cloves sliced thin or put through a garlic press

  • 1 tablespoon dried basil

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 2 bay leaves

  • small pinch of red pepper flake (optional)

  • 28oz can of crushed tomatoes

  • salt to taste

method

  • heat olive oil in large pot over medium heat

  • add the onions with a little pinch of salt to the pot. cook until the onion have released their juices and have become translucent, about 5 minutes

  • now, add your garlic, basil, oregano, bay leaves, and red pepper flakes. stir and cook for 1 more minute. your pot should now be deliciously aromatic

  • add the tomatoes and bring the pot to a simmer

  • adjust the heat to maintain a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally

  • after you are done simmering, turn off the heat and taste for salt

    enjoy this sauce with your favorite pasta
